Letting Go…or Leggoing of your Eggo
Posted in: Adam's Blog
I reported the story today that there’s going to be a nationwide shortage of Eggo Frozen Waffles, but I’ve found out some more about the story since, and this is the rest of the story. Once the current supply runs out, we will be out of Eggos until Summertime.
Other than saying the name, I’m not a giant fan of the Eggo waffle. Give me homemade ones on the wafflemaker or take me to a restaurant. Frozen just isn’t my thing.
Back to the story. Kelloggs, who produces Eggo waffles originally said that a major flood at thier Atlanta plant caused the damage that halted production. The Georgia Department of Argiculture says they issued a recall for Buttermilk Eggos because of a listeria contamination. For otherwise healthy people, listeria isn’t dangerous, but pregant women and people who are sick, it can be a problem.
It just happened that the floods came while they were cleaning up from the listeria contamination. Very sneaky Kellogg.
For those who don’t want to search out Web MD: Listeria monocytogenes can cause Listeroisis which can potentially be serious and can cause meningitis. Symptoms: High fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea. Listeroisis can also cause miscarriages and still births – and can be dangerous even fatal to the very young and elderly.
